How to convert salary to hourly pay

Divide annual gross salary by hours per week multiplied by paid weeks per year. At 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, the divisor is 2,080. A $75,000 salary is $36.06 an hour; a $60,000 salary is $28.85 an hour.

These are gross equivalents. To estimate deductions and your deposit, use the US paycheck calculator. A salary converted to an hourly figure does not determine overtime eligibility.

Common salaries at 40 hours and 52 weeks

Annual salary Hourly equivalent Monthly equivalent
$40,000 $19.23 $3,333.33
$50,000 $24.04 $4,166.67
$60,000 $28.85 $5,000.00
$75,000 $36.06 $6,250.00
$100,000 $48.08 $8,333.33

Choose the right schedule

Use 52 paid weeks if your annual salary includes paid vacation and holidays. If you receive hourly wages only for weeks worked, enter the number of weeks for which you expect pay. Do not subtract paid vacation from a full-year salary unless you are deliberately measuring pay per hour actually worked.

Does this include taxes?

No. Salary conversion is arithmetic before federal withholding, FICA, state taxes or benefit deductions. The same salary can produce different deposits depending on your W-4 and benefits.

Why are biweekly and twice-monthly amounts different?

A standard biweekly equivalent divides annual salary by 26; semimonthly divides it by 24. Some payroll calendars contain 27 biweekly pay dates. These are annual equivalents rather than a prediction of your employer’s individual payments.
