Turn an hourly wage into annual, monthly and paycheck-period gross pay. Adjust your weekly hours and paid weeks to compare full-time, part-time and seasonal schedules.
Hourly wage to annual salary formula
Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year. At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, annual gross pay is $52,000. Monthly equivalent pay is $4,333.33 and a standard biweekly equivalent is $2,000.
Hourly wages at a full-year schedule
| Hourly wage | Annual, 40 hours × 52 weeks | Monthly equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| $15 | $31,200 | $2,600.00 |
| $20 | $41,600 | $3,466.67 |
| $25 | $52,000 | $4,333.33 |
| $30 | $62,400 | $5,200.00 |
| $40 | $83,200 | $6,933.33 |
Account for unpaid time
If you earn $25 an hour for 40 hours across 50 paid weeks, annual gross pay is $50,000 rather than $52,000. Enter 50 paid weeks if two weeks are unpaid. Paid vacation should remain included when your employer pays your usual wages during that time.
What about overtime and variable hours?
This converter uses a consistent schedule and excludes overtime premiums, tips and commissions. If hours vary, use a representative average for ordinary hours and calculate overtime separately with the overtime calculator.
Is annual salary the same as take-home pay?
No. These results are before deductions. Use a state paycheck tool to account for the supported withholding rules, and check its stated exclusions before relying on a result.
